About Us
The Cape Institute for Architecture,
formerly known as the Cape Institute of Architects, was formed in 1900.

The Cape Institute for Architecture is affiliated to the South African Institute of Architects (SAIA) and is one of eleven regional institutes. The Institute is constituted according to the Architects Act 44 of 2000. All member categories are required to be registered with the statutory body, the South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP).
Objectives
- To promote the art, science, research and practice of
architecture.
- To serve the interests of its members.
- To uphold the dignity of the profession through maintaining
a code of
conduct, professional competence and integrity,
which has been established by its
affiliated bodies, the
South African Institute of Architects (SAIA) and the South
African
Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP).

The Cape Institute for Architecture Management
Committee is elected every two years according
to the constitution. It consists of the:

The Executive Officer, assisted by three administrative staff
members, execute the affairs of the CIA.
Membership of the South African Council for the Architectural
Profession is mandatory. Membership of the Cape Institute for Architecture
is voluntary.
